Béatrice Tézier Herman


Béatrice started her career in 1990 in the Patent department at Rhône-Poulenc Chimie, in Paris and the United States. She then joined L'Oréal, where she was in charge of the patent portfolios in the Pharmaceutical and Biological areas, prior to serving in a large patent law firm in Paris. She joined Becker & Associés in 2002, as a partner.


Béatrice has a scientific background in organic and mineral chemistry as well as in biochemistry. She received a Master Degree at the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris 6, France, and graduated from the International Patent Law School (CEIPI) in Strasbourg. She also graduated from the European Patent Litigation Course and recently obtained a further Master Degree, in IP law. She is a registered French Patent Counsel and an authorized European Patent and Trademark Attorney.


Béatrice advises her clients in defining and implementing an optimal protection strategy for their innovations. With a high expertise in drafting, filing and prosecuting patents, Béatrice counsels her clients on all aspects of patent strategy. She particularly likes to assess how a patent portfolio can be strengthened to fit business goals. Béatrice has a special expertise in the field of Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs). She is also involved in patent lawsuits in France and other countries, negotiation and drafting of IP-related agreements, and due diligence operations. A former member of the jury panel for the French qualification exam, Béatrice is also a member of several professional associations such as LES and AIPPI.
